History of Jim Corbett

  • In 1936, Jim Corbett National Park became India’s first-ever national park, part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve.
  • It is named after the famed environmentalist and conservationist Jim Corbett.
  • In 1973, the conservation project “Project Tiger” originated at Jim Corbett, further adding to its legacy.

Best time to visit Jim Corbett

  • Summers, between March & June, are the best time to visit if you’re planning a safari. During this period, the grasslands and waterbodies begin to dry with high temperatures. As a result, the chances of sighting increase with animals travelling far and wide in the search for water.
  • Sighting during the Monsoon period is difficult with the increase in grassland density.
  • The winter period, between November to February, is an excellent time to catch sight of migratory birds at the national park.
