On one end lies a glimmering stone-and-wood cottage that serves as the hang-out area and teems with the games of billiards and table tennis. Embracing the breezes and sunshine are the rooms, that come with personal balconies so that you always have a piece of the mountainous landscape to yourself. Adding to the comfort of fluffy beds and utterly warm blankets are the home-cooked meals here, which are delicious, filling, and everything you’d love to have up North. The house is hosted by the Sood family, who have been a part of Himachal Pradesh since forever.

Adventure Activities: A true adventure hotspot, Mashobra will surely surprise you with the rich offerings that it never boasts about. Summers are made exciting with paragliding, quad biking, and white-water rafting, whereas winter brings bouts of snow, and with that, the opportunity to go skiing. You can engage yourself in a conversation with our hosts to dig some more into these activities and where are they best done.
Hikes Like any pretty little village of Himachal Pradesh, Mashobra is made up of gorgeous landscapes, and a walk anywhere outside is going to be a treat to the eye. There are some big and small hikes too, like the one to the Fagu village or to the Tattapani stream. A small walk to Chharabra is refreshing and simple and takes you to the President’s retreat home. To know more walks that you could take, you can have a word with the hosts.
Village Walk Mashobra is a miniscule town full of apple orchards, deodars, oaks, and pines. There’s also a Tibetan Handicraft Market at the square, along with small shops that sell samosa, chai, and North Indian sweets. A village walk would treat you with slow scenes of a small town, with the kids walking back from the school or the men taking the cattle for a graze.
Kufri (18km, 56 min) If you’ve never been to the tourist hub of Kufri, it makes for a decent day trip. Here, you can hike up to the famous Mahasu Peak in summers or go skiing in winters.
Naldehra (18 km, 40 min) The town of Naldehra is a day trip in itself, with attractions like the Golf Course, Chadwick Falls, Craignano Nature Park, and Shaily Peak to look forward to. Naldehra is perennially covered in snow in winters, which makes for a great sight too.
Shimla (15 km, 41 min) One of the towns of Himachal that mountain-lovers keep frequenting, the queen of hills has prolific sunsets and a hustling little lane to offer. The Ridge and the mall road are the two places you want to check out here, for shopping, exploring Shimla’s culture, landscape views, and picturesque scenes of cascading colourful houses all alike.

HOW TO REACH
Zostel Home Mashobra is at a distance of 20 km (a 50-60 min drive) from the touristy centre of Shimla.
By Bus: Shimla is very well connected with all major cities through HRTC buses. Upon reaching Mashobra Bus Stand in Shimla, you can contact us for a pick-up.
By Train: Shimla Railway Station is 16 km from our home in Mashobra. From the station, take a bus to Sanjauli, from where you can request a pick-up from the hosts.
By Air: Shimla Airport lies 35 km from Mashobra. A hired taxi from the airport to Zostel Home Mashobra will take an hour and a half and cost INR 2200-3000.
Note: From Mashobra main road, the Home is at a distance of 5 km off-road. Our hosts will be happy to help you with a complimentary pick-up and drop if required.

Slightly north of Shimla and only a 40-min drive away from there, Mashobra is a small town that falls on the route that takes you to Naldehra. House Policies
- The property is not pet-friendly.
- Smoking is prohibited inside the property. Guests are requested to resort to open areas for the same. Alcoholic drinks can be carried and consumed inside the property but in selected areas only. However, we do not serve alcohol.
- Nature, culture, and surroundings should always be respected and taken care of. The home should be kept noise-free after 10 pm.
- Guests are requested to carry an ID proof and their booking confirmation (online will do) for a hassle-free check-in. Since this is a homestay, we are not entitled to provide any room or luggage services.
- The check-in time is 1 PM, check-out time is 11 AM, and the breakfast time is 7.30 to 10.30 AM. Guests are requested to respect and follow the check-in, check-out and meal timings.
- All the food served will be home-cooked. Any special request regarding food or facilities needs to be intimated in advance.
- Drivers/helpers can be given separate accommodation at INR 500 per day.
- Extra Bedding is subject to availability. Please call the property prior to your arrival to confirm the same. Cost of extra bedding - INR 500 per person. Children below the age of 10 can be accommodated for free.
