A Heaven in Himachal
Rakchham, Himanchal Pradesh
An outlandish bloom of Pink Olga blossoms sprawls out on its fields just after the rains, winters come with snowfall and an enchanting silence, and summers here can be described in two words: festive and green. This is Rakchham, a small town slightly North of Chitkul and very much at the heart of the Sangla Valley of Himachal Pradesh. In this very hamlet, endowed with gorgeous sunsets, sits Zostel Homes Rakchham, a dot of brown and teal in the middle of endless greenery. A curvy mud path cuts through it and leads to the steps of the front yard, which lays adorned with apple trees and flamboyant flowers. The rooms here are submerged in nature, enjoying all the majestic sunrises, sunsets, furtive rainbows, and misty mountains. The food here is hot and the nights pleasantly breezy, making for two traits of a very dreamy holiday.

HIGHLIGHTS AND ACTIVITIES
Kamru Fort: Housing 36 crore deities in its petite and remarkably quaint wooden structure, the Kamru Fort is of great religious importance for the people of the region. Built thousands of years ago, the fort is a representation of the old Himachali architecture at its finest. Put together with dark wood and featuring a timber terrace, the fort sits at the highest point of the Kamru Village at 2600 m, surrounded by snow-peaked mountains. The fort is only a 30-min ride from the home, a little bit further up from Sangla.
Chitkul Only a 40-min drive away is Chitkul, a favourite town amongst travellers for getting away from the world. Situated on the banks of the Baspa river, the town offers a lot of hikes, gorgeous views of the mountains, and a tryst with the Kinnauri culture. Moreover, it is the last inhabited village on the Indo-China border, which also draws many people to the village, in wonderment of the world lies beyond.
Sangla Famous for its apple orchards and lush meadows, this town is the gateway to the Sangla Valley that houses gorgeous villages like Rakchham and Chitkul. Circled by snow peaks and thriving around the Baspa river, Sangla celebrates Holi in a sheer grandeur with snow and colours and a community festivity.
